Principal's Report

2023 Planning

Just a reminder that if you have not enrolled your child for Prep in 2023, please pick up an enrolment pack from the campus offices or go onto the school’s website to complete this. All students enrolled for Prep 2023 at Epping Primary School will be invited to take part in a pre-Prep learning program during Term 4. If you require any further information about school programs or enrolling your child, please contact the school to book a tour or to ask any questions.
If your family is making a change in 2023 and your child/children will not be attending Epping Primary School in 2023, can you please let the campus offices know as soon as possible.
Parents will be provided with an opportunity to write and let me know of considerations when placing their child/children in 2023 classes via an invitation in the Newsletter, early Term 4.

5/6 Night of the Notables

Grade 5/6 students will be showcasing their knowledge of a notable Australian in the last week of school.

Students have chosen a notable Australian and over the past term have researched the significance of their role in Australian history. Students will be given the opportunity to display their knowledge on Monday September 12th from 4:30pm-6:30pm at the Greenbrook Campus and Wednesday September 14th from 4.30pm-6.30pm at the High Street Campus.

Students will give their best impersonation of their notable Australian as they dress as them and also answer questions from parents on the night. We hope all parents can attend this night and celebrate the children’s hard work and learning.

Attendance

A reminder that your child/children should be at school at 8.50 am so they can put their bag and belongings away and be ready for learning at 9.00am sharp! A reminder that school gates open at 8.40am.

I am concerned with parents dropping off their child after 9.05am and then just driving away. If you and your child/children are late, parents are required to walk their child/children into the school building and provide a reason for the late arrival to office staff. If parents do not do this, you will receive a call as soon as your child comes inside, to come back to the school and explain the late arrival. Schools must include parent reasons for lateness and absences on Department management systems.

Student Illness

It seems that the bad weather and school illnesses are slowly disappearing which is great news!

It is important to remember that if your child has symptoms of any illness (cough, runny nose, sore throat, stomach- ache, rash etc), students must stay at home until they are medically cleared or have no symptoms. I strongly encourage families to regularly complete RATs and have their children wear masks indoors until otherwise advised by the Department of Education.

If your child is absent from school, please complete this and the reason on Compass. If you are unsure of how to do this, please contact the school office.

3/4 Scienceworks Excursion
The 3/4 students recently went on a learning adventure to Scienceworks to support our Inquiry unit about Earth and Space. We saw an exciting show at the planetarium called Tilt, which explored how the Earth moves around the sun, as well as why we have different seasons at different times of the year. We found the locations of planets such as Saturn and Venus in the night sky, and we went hunting for constellations like the Southern Cross. We also had a chance to explore the other Scienceworks areas like Beyond Perception and Think Ahead, where we made discoveries about gravity, light and sound. Everyone was very tired by the time we got back to school, but it was a fantastic day out!

Book Week has come and gone! But the memories will last forever.

At school we celebrated by having a book character dress up which our children embraced.

A multitude of Princesses and Harry Potters could be seen stepping into their characters throughout the day.

The live-streamed Story Quest Performance was very entertaining as it discussed the winning books of the Children’s Book Council of Australia for 2022. Students then joined with their cohorts to complete relevant activities.
